| Dear Reader,
You would think that with the hot summer days now upon us things would naturally move slower. Nothing could be further from the facts. With gas and diesel prices surging, with inflation difficult to control, with the real estate mortgage market still a very serious problem, and with mortgage prices continuing to drop, we have our editorial hands full. The true problem is that when listening to the news commentaries, no one seems to have the answers on the future of the fuel resources and domestic oil production, and the financial markets, while in disarray, receive the usual Òfix the holesÓ response instead of full blown urgent regulations to reset the system.
We have thoughtful commentary by Vikki McReynolds, Executive Director of GUCA on the state of the utility industry in this issue.
This being the Utilities and Infrastructure issue, we have decided to bring you also some truly revolutionary concepts on transportation that you might not have thought about. The reduction in truck traffic inside the city would reduce congestion, air pollution, and noise and this system, introduced as CargoCap, might be the answer. ItÕs definitely different but realistic enough to have prototype construction taking place for testing.
Another interesting construction project is going on in Turkey. This extremely complex infrastructure project confirms the incredible skills of the engineering and construction industriesÑwe can be proud.
We always enjoy hearing from you and would be delighted to have you commentary. My e-mail address is rfrey@a4inc.com.

The Georgia Contractor is published bi-monthly and is designed around the construction industry associations and their members.
The Georgia Contractor Magazine has been created by and for the members of the major contractor associations in Georgia. The purpose is to create a unifying voice for the construction industry, to provide information on new technologies; to create updates on political events; to include changes as provided for by the Georgia Registration Board; and to discuss such matters as construction projects, human resources issues, education, business and accounting , seek out emerging opportunities, and international matters of concern and interest.
Most importantly the magazine has been created for the purpose of broadening the interest in the construction industry and to use The Georgia Contractor as a marketing tool. |
